Compared to driving straight to downtown, I have to wake up 20 minutes earlier to get to work 15 minutes later. Not wanting to pay an additional $15 a month for a parking pass to park at a light rail station, I chose to drive up to Natomas, park at the park & ride lot, which is free, and take that bus line (#11) into downtown. I suppose it’s worth the almost $100 difference (since I’m only paying $35 a month for the bus pass, opposed to $6 a day for street parking, or about $126-132 for the whole month.)
The bus ride in was no problem. The wait for the ride back was horrendous. According to schedule, the bus was supposed to arrive at my stop at 4:08pm. I got there a little early, around 3:50pm, so I thought I was good. After seeing many other buses come & go, 4:08pm rolls around, and my bus still hasn’t come. Around 4:15pm, I get a little worried. My bus finally comes around 4:20pm, but the bus DIDN’T FUCKING STOP. I was standing at the stop, close to the curb, with my hand raised, and the son-of-a-fucking-bitch bus driver was zoned out or something cause she was just staring straight ahead, pedal to the metal, like she had to be somewhere yesterday. The guy standing next to me said “wow, she didn’t even look”. Bus stop? Pshh....it was more like a bus “fly-right-fucking-by”....
Yeah, I was fucking pissed. I had been waiting for 30 minutes, standing in the shade, but it was still like 90 F outside. But what the fuck am I gonna do? I’ve become fully dependent on this transit system for the sake of saving a lot of money (roughly $1200 a year). I have no choice but to take what they give me, even if sometimes it’s a flaming bag of shit.
