  • Sick? Pshhh......

I think it started on Sunday, just a little cough. Then for the next 2 days, while using all the over-the-counter stuff that I could (ibuprofen, robitussin, cough drops, lots of fluids), it got progressively worse. It turned into a sore throat and a painful cough. Then on Wednesday, when I got to work, I felt like I had a fever, so I said "F this. I gots a ton of sick hours. I'm going home."

So I get home and take my temp, and it's only 99.6. I swear, I felt way warmer than that. But still, I wanted to get checked out by a doctor, so I call up Kaiser to make an appointment. Since my mailing address is still in Vallejo, for some reason or another, they couldn't directly set up with an appointment with a doctor in Sac and had to wait for someone from a Sacramento Kaiser to call me back. So about 3 hours later, I finally get a call. After taking about my current symptoms and my medical history for a while, they determine that I really don't need to come in and see a doctor, and that I should just continue doing what I was doing and that I'd eventually get better. THANKS A LOT, KAISER. Apparently, I wasn't sick enough to waste the time of their doctors. They're soo good at medicine, they don't even need to physically see the patients anymore! What the hell am I paying my medical premiums for?
At first, I was a bit pissed off. But I figured they knew what they were taking about, cause they're "experts", right? And since I didn't have that high of a fever, I decided to go about like I was fine, cause KAISER SAID I WAS FINE. The night before, I had bought tickets to the Kings/Clippers game, since it might be the last ever Sacramento Kings game. Before the game, me & Haile ate dinner at BJs. I guess it was there were I started to feel a bit iffy. Even after ordering soup and hot tea, my throat was not getting any better. Then at the game, I really couldn't cheer, cause if I tried to talk, I'd just immediately start coughing. I had to try really hard to control my breathing to prevent myself from coughing. As the game progressed, I felt worse & worse. I could not wait for the damn game to end. I swear, I thought I was dying by the end of the game. And to make things worse, the Kings lost. But at least my section won a $10 gift certificate to a new restaurant in downtown Sac.
So I finally get home, I take my temp and it's freakin 104.7!!

Am I sick enough now, Kaiser?!? I don't ever remember having a fever that high before. It's times like this that I wish I had a significant other to take care of me. I set up a side table next to my bed for a bowl of ice cold water to soak face towels, and 2 large cups of water to down. I also took a cold shower to try and get my temp down, and I'm not even sure that worked.
I had to legitimately had to call in sick for the next 2 days. And for those 2 days, all I basically did was down a bunch of water, blow my noise, and go pee. A lot. I started to feel better around lunch time today, but I'm still not close to 100%. I don't really get sick like this very often. Next time, I probably shouldn't go out to a major sporting event, even if I only feel a little sick and if Kaiser doesn't think I'm sick enough to see a doctor.
  • Kings Lakers Game 11/21

I went with Gabe. You'd think Shann the super Laker fan would've gone too, but for some reason he turned it down, even and I scored cheap(ish) tickets off Stubhub. Well, he missed out on a really good game...for the Kings. The Kings beat the Lakers, 113-97, despite Kobe scoring 38 points and getting every single ticky-tack superstar foul call. And there were hella Lakers fan, probably more than Kings fans. And all ended up leaving early since it was kind of a blowout halfway through the 4th quarter. Oh, and this is my first time watching the Kings win in at least 2 years. Extra bonus points for it being against the Lakers.
