friday:
-Dinner @ Frutti de Mar: good stuff
-Fire Alarm: no bueno
1st Night was interesting. Some kids decided to pull the fire alarm around 9pm. Twice. 2nd time, they couldn’t shut it off, so they had to call in the fire department, which took maybe 20 minutes to get there. And even they couldn’t shut it off. The alarm was going off for at least an hour, maybe two. It was unbearable loud in the hotel, so all the guests were just chillin outside. Some even checked out. We had just bought ice cream at Walmart, so I had to go in & put it in the fridge. I figured I would stay in the room & just cover the fire alarm speakers. It mostly worked, as tape & pillows muffled most of the high-pitched sirens. It was no longer “make-your-ears-bleed”, “get-the-hell-out-there’s-a-fire” status.
saturday:
-Monterey Bay Aquarium: turtles & penguins & turtles!
Turtles are awesome!

The ocean sunfish: one ugly ass fish

It heard us making fun of it, and it tried to ram us.

Pretty fishies!

Jellyfish amaze me, they're soo cool looking. They had some that reminded me of Metroids.
-Lunch @ Blue Fin: really, really bad service
-bonfire @ Carmel Beach
Even though it was cloudy all day, it was still pretty nice at the beach. It wasn’t cold at all, and it wasn’t windy (so we couldn’t fly the kite Chris brought). Starting the bonfire was a bit of a struggle. It seemed like it took forever to start, and when it did get going, it wasn’t all that big (twss). Everyone else who came after us were mostly older white families, and I swear there was a dude that was dressed straight out of a Ralph Lauren catalog with the button-up dress shirt w/ rolled up sleeves, slacks, & sweater tied around his neck. All these guys hella showed up our tiny little fire. Within minutes of arrival, they had a huge fire started. WTF. Honestly? We have to go back next year, just to redeem ourselves for our clearly inadequate fire. (while shaking fist in air) We’ll show them how to start a fire!!
I have more pictures at the beach, but I have to use up about 16 more shots on my current roll of film before I can develop it. I'll probably blow through that this weekend.
sunday:
-Gilroy Outlets
Maybe it was because it was the Garlic Festival weekend, but there were HELLA people at the Gilroy Outlets. Finding parking was damn near impossible. If I hadn’t bought anything, it wouldn’t have been worth it.
other notes:
Chris & Chrissy clearly won the “most PDA during the weekend” and "most PDA per hour" awards, and by a landslide. They were “all-up-ons”. How long exactly does the “honeymoon” phase of a relationship last? They’ve been going out for over 6+ months now.
If I didn’t already know Jay & Owen were married, I wouldn’t think they were married, based on the way they appear in public, or even when they’re around each other. With Chris & Chrissy, and even Jacqueline & Albert, seeing them together, it’s soo obvious they’re together.
And while I’m on that topic, based on every encounter I’ve ever had with Owen, I get the strong feeling that she doesn’t like the cousins, or is having a really hard time assimilating. Literally, every time she’s around us, she’s either a.) completely immersed in her iPhone or Jay’s macbook, b.) playing with one of the babies, c.) talking with the (older) aunties/uncles, or d.) in a completely separate room by herself. Ask any of the cousins, and they'd say the same thing. And it’s not like we’re forcing her to do that, or purposely not including her in our convos or anything, she just chooses to do so. I mean, it’s been over 10 months now, and she’s (we’re) no closer than when she was still in the Philippines. And I don't think that’s right. I hope this gets better in time, but I don’t believe anything will change unless someone steps up and actually does something about it.
