friday:
Westside Pavillion - We arrived way earlier than expected (surprisingly there was no traffic), so we maybe had 2 hours to kill, so we decided to stop by this mall. There were hella people chillin (studying, on laptop, reading, etc) on the bridge/walkway between the mall & Barnes & Noble, which seemed sorta weird. And then we started noticing that hella people were dressed up. We all felt hella under-dressed. Apparently there was a bar/lounge in the lobby of the movie theater that was next to the Barnes & Noble. I guess that's how they roll down here.
Father's Office - lots o' beers on tap & seriously, THE best gourmet burger I've ever had, hands down. I didn't even think to take a picture of the burger. Doh! It was sorta dark inside anyways. The place was sorta small, had to wait for a table, but it was so, so, sooooo worth it
Diddy Riese - $1.50 ice cream sandwich, totally worth the 20 minute or so wait. Again, I did't think to take a picture of the ice cream sandwich until after I had finished it.
saturday:
Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe - hella good hawaiian breakfast. place was small, ended up sitting at a bar facing the street/sidewalk, but it was cool.
King’s Hawaiian (bread) french toast ftw!!
Beverage Warehouse - like BevMo, but with better & more beer
Koreatown Galleria - kpop music stores & korean market. bought some snacks to eat at the festival
Korean Music Festival 2011 - mostly awesome, just slightly embarassing, which I will elaborate on in a separate post.
Us in our seats. And Mikey's not even mad at Jayr yet.
View of stage from our seats in the Garden Box section
And a pic of rest of Hollywood Bowl behind us
The MCs: some guy who's name I forget and G.NA. She's Korean, but raised in Canada, so she can speak English fluently and was doing most of the translating.
So the original plan was for Chris to video the entire concert while I took the pictures. Well, security wouldn't let him in with his camera and made him check it in. I had to take the videos,
so I don't have a pics of any of the performances. I think Mikey took some pics, but I haven't gotten them from him yet.
Roscoe's - FAIL. no parking
we circled around the area maybe 5 times and there was no parking anywhere. We were getting really hungry, so we just said 'eff it and went to Pink's.
Pink's - plenty of parking here, but wait was still 45 minutes. AT 1230AM!!!
f(x) went to Pink's after the SM Town Concert last year. Kinda hoping someone would show up from the concert this year, but no one did
sunday:
Koreatown Plaza - killed some time before meeting up with Tony to go to Road to Seoul. Ended up browsing their market and I picked up a few things that caught my attention:
Korean BBQ rib flavored sausage. I love Korean BBQ ribs, so I was curious if they really got the taste in there.
The bottle is stone/marble and the box has pull-out handles. And it was only $10!
Road to Seoul - Surprisingly exceeded already high expectations. new $19.99 option adds “Road to Seoul steak” and super-sized mushrooms = totally worth the extra $2. It was hella good.
Americana at Brand - hella nice outdoor mall. has Bellagio-style water fountain show. never would’ve thought a place like this would be in Glendale.
LA Creamery - crazy-sounding flavors (salted caramel, roasted banana), but they were hella good.
Glendale Galleria - the mall that never ends. seriously, hella big. it was good for us, though, cause we needed to walk off the Road to Seoul anyways.
Applebees - $3 jaggerbombs. It was hella dead, but a nice cap to a mostly awesome weekend
The schwag: 3 reusable bags, a mini fleece blanket, 3 Korean Air inflatable noise makers, an official KMF program, an LED light stick, and an orange pen. At the music stores, I bought f(x)'s and 4minute's latest albums as well as Brave Girls 1st single.
Things learned this weekend:
- Lots of excellent, non-chain "good eats" down here. Must come visit Tones & Mikey again soon.
- I will try to stay away from Jayr as much as humanly possible. If I don't have to be around him, I won't.
