So the solid state drive in my laptop is toasted. bull. fucking. shit. I took apart my laptop to get to it, then put it in an external USB enclosure to hook it up to my desktop, and my desktop didn't even recognize it. I probably more pissed off that I should be. It's just more of an inconvenience if anything, but that doesn't make it any less bullshit. I kept most of my important files (music, pics, resumes, etc.) on my external usb hard drive. The only things that I kept on the SSD that were really important were my car maintenance excel spreadsheet (which I really should've put that on the external, don't know why I didn't) and my iTunes/iPhone backup files, which I should be fine without, unless my iPhone decides to crap out on me too (furiously knocking on wood that it doesn't).

I'm going to have to spend some more money on a new laptop. Maybe. Not sure if I want to drop $1000-1500 on a new laptop (either another Sony or Apple). I'm also trying to get a quote on data recovery. I really want that car maintenance excel file. I mean, I could live without it, I have a backup of the file but it's from January so I'd have a gap. If it's not too much, I'll pay for it. But fuck that SSD. It's not even that old. It shouldn't be crapping out soo soon. I originally bought the laptop in 2007, and after 4 years, I felt like it needed a performance boost, so I got the SSD in October 2011, used off eBay. But with no mechanical or moving pieces, it should've lasted way longer. I have two SSDs in my desktop tower, which I got in August 2010, and they're both still fine (knock on wood some more).

Hey, at least maintenance came today and fixed the AC....sweet, glorious AC.

First, all the crap the mini's going through. Still waiting on the motor mount from the UK, so the mini's still garaged.

Then my "waterproof" Sony camera isn't so waterproof cause it stops working after a couple of dunks in the pool. Good thing I bought a waterproof SD card that's actually waterproof cause it still works.

Then, the first weekend I decide to stay in Sac, for my god-daughter's 1st bday, it's the middle of 105°F+ heat wave and the freakin' AC in my apartment goes out. It's just blasting non-AC air, so it's been a caliente 89°F inside my apartment. I had a hersey's chocolate sitting out, and it had completed melted inside the wrapper. The pretzel m&m's that I keep in a jar, the chocolate inside was melting too. I put in a maintenance request, but they won't come till Monday, melting sad face single tear.

Then my laptop hard drive decides to stop working. It was working literally minutes ago. I shut it down, then decided to add some videos to my iPhone, so I power it back up, and now it doesn't see the hard drive. I can't imagine the hard drive crashing because I had swapped it out with a solid state drive (SSD) maybe a year ago, so there are literally no moving parts to break. I hope it's not the motherboard. I'll have to crack open the laptop tomorrow and see if maybe a connector got disconnected or something. I really don't want to buy a new laptop, though a new Sony or Apple laptop would be nice.

I'm hoping karma throws me a bone or three. Promotion at work and no more furloughs can't be enough to offset all this recent crap. So hopefully I can find a nice house soon. Or maybe win the Powerball jackpot.
